Upgrade to MossWinn 4.0Pre

 
 

In order to upgrade your copy of MossWinn (version 2.0i, 3.0i xp or 4.0Pre [under development]) to MossWinn 4.0Pre, proceed as follows.
  • Download the compressed executable mosswinn_4.0pre.zip. (Click with the right mouse button and select Save Link As....)
  • From the downloaded file extract the executable MossWinn 4.0Pre.exe into the directory where the older mosswinn.exe is located.
  • Run the extracted executable MossWinn 4.0Pre.exe, and follow the instructions.
  • Note that if version 2.0i or 3.0i xp is successfully upgraded to version 4.0Pre, then the old version will remain usable: the two versions will work independently.
  • See the release notes, download the manual or visit the online help page of the MossWinn program for detailed information.

In order to install a pristine copy of MossWinn 4.0Pre, proceed as follows.
  • Create a new directory on one of the hard drives.
  • Download the compressed executable mosswinn_4.0pre.zip. (Click with the right mouse button and select Save Link As....)
  • From the downloaded file extract the executable MossWinn 4.0Pre.exe into the previously created directory.
  • Run the extracted executable MossWinn 4.0Pre.exe, and follow the instructions.

If MossWinn 4.0Pre does not recognize your key, proceed as follows.

Please, note that – older, parallel type – keys accompanying MossWinn licenses purchased before July, 1998 are – for technical reasons – not suitable for use with MossWinn version 4.0Pre. In order to be able to run MossWinn 4.0Pre, such a key needs to be replaced to a new (USB type) key. If you happen to have one of those older type of keys, please, do not proceed with the installation of the driver suggested below, but contact your provider of MossWinn.

  • Download the 7.5.1 version of the SafeNet Sentinel Driver (click with the right mouse button and select Save Link As...) or the latest version of this driver from here.
  • Uninstall all previous versions of the Sentinel driver via Start → Control panel → Add or Remove Programs.
  • Run the downloaded program and install the USB or/and the parallel driver. You can install both (select Complete installation type), or only the one corresponding to the type of your key.
  • Note that in some cases the installation of this new driver will prevent the older version of MossWinn (2.0i or 3.0i xp) to recognize your key. In such a case the older version of MossWinn will not remain usable.

The recommended operating systems for MossWinn 4.0Pre are MS Windows XP, Vista and 7.
